A standard porcelain benchtop takes 1–2 hours to polish. Most residential porcelain floor polishing is completed in a single day. Large commercial porcelain floors may take 1–2 days. We provide an accurate timeframe during our free on-site assessment.
Most porcelain surfaces can be polished from a smooth satin finish through to a deep mirror-like high gloss. The achievable result depends on the porcelain's condition and the grit progression we work through. We discuss your preferred finish before starting.
With correct maintenance using pH-neutral products and periodic professional care, a polished porcelain finish typically lasts 3–5 years before requiring re-polishing. High-traffic commercial porcelain floors may need re-polishing sooner.
Porcelain tiles come from the factory either polished (glossy) or unpolished (matte). If your polished porcelain has lost its gloss from foot traffic and cleaning, professional re-polishing restores it. If your porcelain is matte or textured, polishing is not recommended as it changes the intended finish and can affect slip resistance. We assess the tile type before recommending treatment.
