We use two approaches depending on the cause: if slipperiness is from biological growth, we treat and clean the biological matter then apply an anti-biological sealer. If the stone surface is inherently smooth, we can hone it to a slightly textured satin finish that dramatically improves traction, or apply an impregnating anti-slip treatment.
Our preferred impregnating anti-slip treatment works inside the stone and does not change its colour, appearance or texture visibly. If honing is used to improve traction, the surface changes from smooth to lightly textured — still very attractive but with significantly better grip.
